The 3 of us – Vanessa, Jennifer and Jane have been thinking about how to create more fun for our cooking…. And how to make our food more colorful that looks so appetizing for our kids to eat… And we would like all ingredients used as natural and as organic possible!

So our creative master here – Vanessa came out with this idea.

Play Nood 2

So guess what it is! It is not cake or bread.. it is just simply dough that are made of flour and we turned it into colorful noodle! The process of making this noodle was fun as it is just like playing with playdough and forming any shape we like! Huh.. I guess, we can get our kids to prepare this dish next time, I am sure they are more than willing to ‘Play’!

Vanessa even come out with a creative name for it: PlayNood! Cool? Umm… should we even trademark this name?

The ingredients used for this dough are made of natural ingredients! No coloring and no preservative..feeling healthier and safer, isn’t it!?

Take a look how we made the dough:

To make for about 5-6 servings, we used a total of 450g of flour for this dough of which 100g for  plain color dough, 50g each for other colors. There are 6 dough of different colors.

The make a plain colored dough based on 100 gram of flour, you will need

  • 100g Plain flour
  • 1/2 egg
  • 5 tbsp of water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tbsp cooking oil

If you have Thermomix at home, just put all ingredients above into your TM pot, mix them for 3 sec. Then knead them for 2 minutes! If the dough comes out to be too wet or dry, add water or flour to adjust the texture of the dough. It should be easily shaped into a ball and bouncy. Rest it in fridge for an hour.

To make other colorful dough, we used approximately 50g of flour and other ingredients above with  15g to 20g puree of natural ingredients such as beet root, pumpkin, sweet potato, pandan leaves. To make the puree, just steam them for about 20 minutes and smash them into puree form. For each colored dough, you place all relevant ingredients into TM pot, mix it for 3 sec and knead it for 2 mins. The dough came out nice with smooth skin and even color.

Now you have the dough.. what to do next? Ya, just put in your creative hat, shape the dough into shapes you like! Hey, do remember this is meant to make noodle, so ensure your shape is flatten and not so thick… !

This is what Vanessa said about the creation:

“Today I have a great time with both Jane Chew & Jennifer Choong to make this cute & colorful noodle for kids. We even created a name for it. It is called “My Play Nood”. Thanks to my 2.7 years old niece Rania cause the inspiration comes from her. Everyday she likes to play “Play Doh” after school. We make colorful objects & items. As such, 3 of us comes out with the healthy ingredient to make these color noodle interesting. Ingredient that is healthy but children might not like such as spinach, pumpkin, beet root & etc. we have confidence children will like it….. Parents will no longer have problem that their children won’t eat these healthy food cause it does not have the taste. Only the colors. Hope you like it too !!!!”
