Made the video for my favourite jam: strawberry/ blueberry jams to share with you guys….It is very easy to make. I left it to my Thermomix machine to complete the job in about 15 mins while I do my other works! With the time saved, I spend a bit more time to wash berries to minimize the chemical attached on them. hopefully it is safer to consume homemade food than buying from stores..
This recipe is adapted from Rasberry jam recipe found from the book ‘My Way of Cooking’. This recipe uses lesser sugar than other recipes. But it still taste really good.
- 400g strawberries
- 100g blueberries
- 250g Brown Sugar
How To Cook Strawberry Jam With Thermomix
- Place the berries into Thermomix mixing bowl, chop 5 sec/ speed 5
- Add brown sugar and cook 14 min/100 c/ speed 2 (Tips: Remove the measuring cup when boil. It would help to thicken the jam)
- Pour into 2 hot rinsed jam jars with twist-off lids and let it cool down. Store it in refrigerator.
Apply the jam on the toast and enjoy! Check out how to do the toast at this link here.
Traditional Way of Cooking Jam
If you do not have Thermomix, you can use the method below:
In a wide bowl, crush the berries in batches until you have the mashed berry. In a heavy bottomed saucepan, mix together the berries and sugar. Stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Increase heat to high, and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil. Boil, stirring often, until the mixture reaches 220 degrees F (105 degrees C). Transfer to hot sterile jars and seal.
Compare to conventional cooking, it is very easy to prepare the jam using Thermomix. Blending, mixing and stirring are all done in Thermomix. During the cooking time, I can be away doing my other stuff without the need to stir the jam myself. Everything is done in 15 mins.
